workers comp award not received

My brother-in-law won almost 50k in a court ordered california workers comp board hearing. No money has been received yet and no other papers have been received besides his award order. Yet his lawyer says they appealed and changed attorneys. Sounds screwy to me. Should he write the governor or someone else to get a pay date.

Have him contact the worker's compensation office where his hearing was held for an update on the paperwork if he does not believe the attorney's word about this. If anything the attorney would be most anxious to get the money as he does not get paid until the person signs the back of the check and he deposits it in his account and cuts a check to the person who won the award.

The attoreny said that the other side appealed, this is actually very normal, they try hard not to pay many times

My workers comp case took over 10 years for me to ever see my money.

If they appealed the verdict, which is thier right, it can still be months or years in court.
