Excessive Noise - Vehicle Horn

I live in Connecticut, outside of our town limits. We have a neighbor who has people pull up to their house and honk the horn, sometimes 10 to 20 times. This occurs at all hours but normally between 7:00 AM and 10:30 PM. Every day of the week! This has been going on for two and a half years and it is effecting my families health. Is anyone aware of any laws relating to misuse of a warning device, excessive noise or anything that would prohibit these actions or force them to stop?

If its after 10pm it is a noise violation.

I had something similar happening when I lived in NY (right across from CT ) and if it happened after 10pm I would call the police and file a noise complaint. My roommate left a note in our neighbors mailbox and said something to the effect of "you may not be aware by the honking of car horns by your visitors is very disruptive to your neighbors. Would you be so kind as to speak to your visitors and ask that they refrain from honking the horn before 9am and after 9pm?". The honking then stopped. We thought maybe they began to feel embarassed between police reports and then the letter.

good luck.

You dont say in which county you live in CT but it's easy to call the Sheriff and ask. I am sure they can tell you if there are noise or other laws on the books that might help.
