what is a duvet set?

I am looking for a new bedding set and want a comforter that is simple and light weight. I have found several different duvet sets but have no clue what a duvet is. can this be used as a comforter?

A duvet set usually is designed to cover existing comforter and pillows. This is not what you are looking for.

you can out a comforter inside of the duvet. It's like a pillow case for a blanket.

If they are less expensive than a comforter set, than you can change the whole look for less.
