I could lend you my dog as she was an expert at removing wallpaper whenever I would go out of the house and leave her alone. She would give me great wallpaper removal jobs at no cost! LOL
You can rent a commercial steamer to safely remove the wallpaper.
BULLDOZER!!! just kidding. sometimes a heat gun is used, and sometimes warm water, and yet sometimes, you can lightly score the paper, and use a steam gun to get the glue to release.
The wall paper adhesive is water soluble. That mean if you can get moisture to the adhesive it will soften and the paper can be pulled off. If sizing was put on the walls before the paper will come off fairly easily. If not, it is more difficult.
Wet regular paper and the moisture will soak thru to the adhesive, vinyl paper and the moisture can't get thru. There is a product DIFF wallpaper stripper, made by Zinsser, that helps. You can get it with a little roller tool that you use to puncture the paper to let the stripper in behind the paper. The rest is scraping.
The best thing I've ever used to remove wallpaper is, buy some cheap store brand liquid fabric softener, the kind that goes in the rinse cycle, mix half and half with water, put into a spray bottle and spray it on the the wallpaper. Let it soak in for a few minutes, then start peeling. It will come right off. It also helps if you score the wallpaper a little bit, they make a tool that you can buy at the hardware store to do that, it's just a couple of dollars. Hope this helps!
You're going to think I'm full of crap, but if you simply can not get the wallpaper off because it's stuck on like, well, like glue, this suggestion WILL work. I just did this a few days ago with really tough wallpaper, and this was after trying most of the suggestions here. Use drywall mud, and a 4 to 6-inch putty knife or drywall scraper. I swear it works. Use the knife to spread the drywall mud over the entire piece, let it set for about 5 minutes, and it should peel off in large strips. If it doesn't work the first time, then try this...apply a very thin layer of the drywall mud, and let it dry for about 15 minutes, then get it wet with a sponge soaked in DIF wallpaper remover. The piece should become so heavy that it peels right off in large strips. My daughter worked for two days on one wall. When I came in with this technique, we finished the entire kitchen in 4 hours.
