Renters living behind us

Hi there,

We have a situation where renters moved in an haven't cut the grass in months and the yard is a mess, tall grass, and junk in the backyard. We've recently installed a privacy fence as we couldn't take looking at it anymore. However, now they come knocking on our door to borrow, coffee, that was the young woman who lives there. We were nice and gave her some coffee. Now last evening, the male of the house, comes a knockin' wanting to know if he gives us $10.00 for gas, would we go with our truck to pick-up his boat. I told him No that we couldn't as it's my husband's truck, and my husband just had surgery yesterday and was resting, which was the truth. I see a pattern forming here and how can I politely ask them not to keep coming here and ringing our door bell? We want it stopped and are leary if their not just looking to see what we have? Very uncomforable situation and annoying as well. Code Enforcement in our town has been notified of the messy yard and a dog tied up all day and night, who cries and barks continuously, and no one is ever by the dog, or walks it, not even sure if it's being fed. Who can I contact about them coming here if it continues and knocking on our door and any suggestions to get them to stop???? Very uncomfortable situation and not so sure I trust them?

Awaiting your replies and any help would be greatly appreciated on how to handle this...

My old neighbors were just like that.
You can call the Building Code inspector and the Humane Society anonymously.

Definitely don't be giving them things it only makes them think 'Gee, they have everything'
Then they'll joke to you that you are like the grocery store'. I started telling people, 'I was getting ready to ask you if you had.....'
and they will be coming to your door constantly if you do give to them.

Other than being blunt and saying you don't like having to get up to answer the door when you are relaxing I don't know what you can do as a quick solution.

There really isn't anything you can do or anybody you can call to stop this as far as the law goes
To get a PFA/restraining order (in some?) states you have to prove they are a threat and/or phsyically abused you.

You probably won't like my answer. I have no problem being very blunt when the occasion calls for it.

I have no respect for someone that will not face the people they have a problem with, but instead anonomously turn them in to government agencies. The answer to your problem is simple, but you just don't want to do it. If you don't want them around, tell them to get lost.

Some people are very ignorant of boundaries and when you give them an inch,they take a mile.

I would be kind but firm and refuse any requests in the future.

If they continue to bother you state firmly*Please do not knock on our door anymore as we are very private people*.
