Musky,moldy smell in house

I've got a musky smell in kitchen, moldy smell in master bathroom that wifts thru to my bedroom. I've had landlord come and inspect and have been told there is no leaks under house and opening behind bath tub appears to be dry. The smell seems to generate around tub enclosure in bathroom and under sink in kitchen. Again landlord has had repairman come in and once again cannot find out why there is smell. There is no sign of mice in house. Can you help??? Thanks

There doesnt have to be a drip-drip leak, per-se.

Its most likley just a little water that has run under the tub and the sink from every day use, over many years, perhaps has absorbed into the wood, maybe rotted some of it, and now is molded and creating this smell.

Poor ventilation can cause a moldy smell. Remember, there is a small 2-3" cavity between the floor and the bottom of the sink storage area. This area is normally void of any ventalation and if dampness gets in there it can cause mold and rot.

The same goes for your tub. The only real soluction is to replace any rotted wood, clean any mold with bleach, and take measures to prevent the moisture that caused it in the first place.

Under my sink, smells the same way, fortunatly it hasnt progressed to the rest of the house, but sooner or later, Im going to have to repair the rotted wood under the sink.
