    House smell bad
    HELP!!
I have a horrible smell in my kitchen that comes and goes. We have lived in this home for 8 years. I keep a very clean house. It is not related to the wind rain time of day summer winter etc! Sometimes lasts for an hour or so and sometimes for a couple of days. It is only one part of the kitchen area... No smell in the basement... or on the upper floor... only on the main floor in the kitchen... I have had a home inspector here for 3.5 hours... 2 different contractors here... Pulled out appliances... Replaced ductwork... had drywall removed... all to no avail... It has been happening for 15 months and is driving me insane... People have described it as a fishy deadish icky smell... I NEED HELP!! $1500.00 dollars later and we are still plagued with this... ANY IDEAS??

Incredible... I read the previous posts... And thought no it can't be the light fixture... but guess what?? I went upstairs (in the kitchen) and checked the fixture above the table in the kitchen... and there were 75 watt bulbs in it... I vaguely remember putting in higher watt bulbs in the fixture because I thought the room was to dark... believe it or not that's when the whole problem started!! It was an engagement party for my nephew... Anyway... when I checked... the light fixture was off and all of the light bulbs were all 75 watts... I took a sniff close to the bulb and Walla!! The fishy icky horrible damnable hideous smell was right there...

I've had 2 Margs and am feeling much better... I can cancel the guy who is supposed to take out all my drywall tomorrow... and have him replace a light fixture!. I can't tell you how happy I am... I don't have to go live in the Holiday inn... Please tell everyone that you know!! Do not use high watt bulbs in places they don't belong! Thanks!! Who would have thought!!
