    Toenail fungus
I have toenail fungus in both my big toes and the treatment the Dr. gave me doesn't seem to be working. I read that vinegar is good to use applying with a Qtip putting it under the nail and on the nail surface. I have been doing this for over a month and see no progress. Does anyone have a success story on what they used to get rid of this problem. I never have had this before. Thanks Bonbon

    Hi Bonbon,
Not sure about vinegar, but using a Q-tip to paint the nails with Tea Tree Oil -- available in any health food store -- should begin to clear it right up. It is a very potent antifungal. Do try to avoid prescription medications such as Lamisil, if possible, as they can be very hard on your liver. Depending on the type of fungus, you may have to wait as the nails grows out, but this should prevent further infection of new nail growth. Try to keep your feet as dry as possible, and not wear any overly tight footwear during this time.
Hope this works for you. Take care. :)

Along with the Tea Tree Oil you may want to try an ointment such as Lotrimin AF. AF stands for anti-fungal and will help rid the area of the fungus. Understand that any treatment you use is going to take a long time.

The only overnight cure for toenail fungus is removal of the nail itself and this is done only in rare serious occasions.

You can buy Lotramin AF at any pharmacy or places like Wal-Mart.
