One thing you can try is watch some pleasant movies with them at their house and then you will have more current pleasant thoughts.

I still get creeped out when I think of my urge to drive through Mt. Pleasant WVa after watching Mothman.
The Avalon Hotel and some scenes that they used in the movie are within a few miles of my house.

And I always wanted to see Silence of the Lambs because it was filmed down the street from my house and I rode in the undercover cop car that was used in it. I finally watched the movie and it wasn't scary like everybody said but it still creeped me out a little.

Try to watch funny movies to keep your mind off of it. One thing I always used to do when movie freaked me out, was to pick out the scariest scene from the movie and then imagine it only funny. Like I used to get so freaked out by that scene in the Ring where she is crawling toward you. But I have a dog who will actually crawl across the floor sometimes if he doesn't want to get up and he looks really funny. So whenever I used to think of that scary scene, I would imagine my big lazy dog crawling toward me instead and laugh. It was soooo dumb but it worked for me! Just take whatever scares you most and put something funny in the scene and imagine it.

Try to keep yourself busy!!

and most of all do not watch scary movies again or you can watch it over and over again so you will get used to it and it will go away.......
