| Spider Bite? I was bitten by an unknown insect a few days ago. I was pumping gas the other night and felt something bite me on my ankle. I though it was just a mosquito; but it hurt almost like a bee sting. I looked at it and it was swollen almost immediately. It burned and itched severely. The next morning, about nine hours later, it was a large ulcer. I lanced it and put some antibiotic ointment on it. It continued to produce puss throughout the next two days. The white area (puss bubble) did not get much bigger than a pencil eraser head. Finally on the third day it scabbed up. I am now on the fifth day. The wound is a bit smaller, but still has a little puss in it. The itching subsided (unless I mess with it), and I am not too concerned with it. I was hoping that someone could help to figure out what bit me. I understand that there are very few insects and spiders in my area that carry necrotic venom. I live in south Louisiana. Most people would jump to the Brown Recluse, but my symptoms just don't line up enough to come to that conclusion. I also don't believe it is MRSA since it is so localized, and I remember being bit. I will continue to monitor it, and will be happy to read any responses. Thanks a lot! |
