Purple Fingertips

A friend of mine has purple fingertips only on her right hand. I mean they're purple, and swelled, it doesn't look good. She doesn't really talk about it. What could it mean? I'm just wondering because I want to make sure she isn't sick or anything.

It could be a number of things most of which I think are related to the blood and possible poor circulation. She should get a doc to diagnose exact cause and problem.
