Painful finger tips

This is a hard lump, which shows white when I squeeze my fingertip. It is extremely painful and seems to be getting bigger. If I look through a magnifying glass, it looks as if there are two tiny 'pits', about 2mm apart, on the lump. My doctor said that it was a cyst but I don't feel that it is. ...

This has been happening for a few years now....whenever I turn the fawcet on or off, for example, wherever my fingers get the pressure from turning the fawcet, they hurt with a burning sensation for a minute. Not just the fawcet, anything I touch with any force. Any ideas?
