You cant fool around with high cholesterol. I didnt, I am on Lipitor and back on track. The only downside for me is absolutely NO GRAPEFRUIT !! If your blood work showed up high cholesterol recently then you are going to a good doctor. Most doctor's dont 'read' their clients and know enough to call up the right the combinations.

Before you would take any product to lower your cholesterol, you need to consult your doctor. Honest. I take Red Rice Yeast, available over the counter, and it works for me. I have been on Lipitor and it caused liver damage and my lipid profile to soar through the roof. But I consulted my doctor about the Red Rice Yeast. Many people take otc's without thinking about what they can do to one's system. Whether or not it will work with or worth against any other medication or body system. So I know that while it sounds routine, it is always best to consult your doctor.

Also while you want something to reduce your cholesterol, you can do many things for yourself that involve simple changes in your life and eating patterns.

Here are some articles you can read and discuss with your physician:

i didnt have any problem with lipitor and I am a diabetic type 11 and at risk for many things. As soon as I found out, I followed all the recommended procedures and opportunities open to me through health care professional who gave me a diet structure to follow. Mind you I had always been an active person with moderate blood pressure, which became within two years hyperactive. I had the good luck to find a good doctor who brought my BP down to l20/60, brought my cholesterol down with lipitor, and I follow a healthy regime of diet and exercise, (which I was always figured I was doing!).

I dont know what to say to you, you can try red rice yeast, you could visit a holistic doctor and have him advice you. All this takes time, I wanted my cholesterol down immediately along with my BP and that took a year. Red rice yeast may take you longer and in that time further damage could be done. I would advise finding a good doctor and going from there. Of course you know what high cholesterol can do oryou wouldnt be seeking a way to bring it down soon.
