While studies vary, it is believed that butter is healthier than margarine. You see, our bodies already know how to break down and digest animal fat, but our bodies are not designed to know how to break down "plant fat."

Here is an experiment a doctor had me do once. Take a stick of butter, place it on a plate in a room about 89 degrees F. Now take two tablespoons of margarine and place it in another plate.

At 98.6 degrees, body temp, you will see that the butter has melted almost completely yet the margarine has not. This is what it looks like in our veins.

It really depends on how much transfattyacids there are in your margerine. Basically, butter is better than many margarine's which contain transfatty acids. If you can find a margarine without transfatty acids, it might very well be better than butter, if it was largely unsaturated fats.

Margarine is not real food. Even my raccoons will not eat it and they eat practically anything.

Snopes has a good article on this subject: snopes.com: Butter, Margarine and Heart Attacks

I prefer butter. It tastes, cooks and bakes better that margarine.
