Okay, one more question. My 2 month old has cradle cap. I dont know how to treat it because my 2 year old never had it. Do I need to take him to the doctor or is there something I can do to fix it from home?
As long as the cradle cap is only on your baby's scalp area you probably don't need to go to the doctor. Wash the hair more frequently and brush the scalp with a soft brush to remove the scales (of course not too hard on the soft spot!). A mild baby shampoo and frequent hair washings should clear it up, but if it spreads or doesn't clear up, then a doctor's visit is in order.
To prevent it in the future, continue to use the mild baby shampoo and shampoo frequently. Oh, and be sure to rinse well!
Use a bit of olive oil, couple of times for the next two or three days. It will soften the scalp and help the healing process.
My son had it, it was not pretty. I also have another name for it, Craddle crap. It does go away, just make sure you do not pick at it. Gentle brushing.
