Is it bad to hold your gas every day?
I'm a girl and I tend to get pretty gassy in 6th period. I hold pretty much all of them in even though it causes me pain. I hate and I mean HATE it when I accidentally fart in public. And that class is almost always quiet... I just want to know if this would have any long term damage to my intestines or anything else. And is there anything I could do to at least make them smell better or make them silent??

p.s. I'm only 14 and I already have enough teasing so I would rather you not say "let it rip" or "everybody farts" because it's still embarrassing. And I really don't want to be the gassy girl in freshmen year because I would be stuck with that all through high school...

Yes. It is important to let the gas out. There are rumors that if you hold for too long, there is a possibility you can die.

I was also going to ask what you eat at lunch.
There are things you can do to avoid it somewhat.
Ingesting air can cause gas, so stay away from sodas and carbonated waters, drink water at lunch instead. Don't drink from a straw.
Chew your food well and eat slowly.
Avoid gas causing foods like cucumbers, onions, peppers, broccoli, dairy, fried or fatty foods.
Of course you need these fresh vegetables to grow properly and stay healthy so talk with your mom about preparing those for you at the evening meal.
If you're gassy at home it's much easier to excuse yourself to your room than it is to excuse yourself at school.
Holding it in can cause quite a bit of discomfort and make you feel bloated.
If you are having any other issues with your stomach, like diarrhea, constipation, or heartburn then you need to speak to your mom so you can get those checked out.
Just thought I'd throw that in, it doesn't mean anything other than be aware of other things that may be happening that you aren't noticing outright, because you are concentrating on the embarrassing gassiness.

That's just stupid. Where did you hear that?
