acidophilus reaction

I noticed every time I had ingested an acidophilus pill about 22 hrs later I have to make an emergency run to the bathroom and almost don't make it on time. That is with only 400 mil. My pediatrician said for my child to take one tablet a day. He will not eat Activia. I purchased it at a health food store. 1 billion mil. stored in the refrigerator. Lets just say I discovered he had thrown his boxers in the trash. He was to embarrassed. I can not find any information about this. However if we both eat yogurt anytime we want to with the active cultures.... everything is "normal" What causes this? Why is this not easy to find or even talked about?
