regarding a firewire port and Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0

Hello.

I am trying to edit on Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 (initially) with a deck containing my mini-DV tape via Firewire to my computer. Everything was set up and ready to go. When I went to capture, it was "offline". So, I was unable to import my footage.

Now, I had thought it was my Firewire cable. So, I went and bought a brand-new one. I hooked that up. Still not working. Maybe it was my deck, so I got a Sony camera to capture. It's still is not working. After making some phone calls, I was told to set my camera so it connected to the computer. Did not help.

I now assume that there is someway to activate my firewire port through my computer somewhere? I am lost.

I need to finish editing on Monday and it is now Friday night and there is 120 minutes worth of film to import and edit. Someone please help! Thanks.
