My theory is that our palates are clean we've not been snacking on chips or cookies, or smoking or drinking, coffee, teas, colas, so we no tastes in our mouths lingering, kind of like my theory that food on the Holidays always taste better, then any other time you cook or eat it. Just a thought!

More than likely because when awakened, your senses awaken as well, refreshed and almost brand new.
Your sense of taste, touch, smell, all ridiculously keen.
For example,w hen I wake up in the morning and go out in the cold, if I smell something yummy, my nose gets so sensitive to the cold because it is waking up, refreshing itself and building up its usual strength.
