i am a teenager whose mom and dad immigrated from taiwan, a country near china, to live in america. i was born in america, but love going back to the home country. my grandfather on my mom's side is really sick and also in his 90's. i want to see him one last time because i know i will be too busy during the fast approaching schoolyear. my mother obviously really wants to go as well. however, my dad, who is very much in control of the entire family (in everyone else's actions and finances) does not want to "waste" the money on me to let me visist my grandfather. this is because tickets now, to go to taiwan, are extremely expensive, especially tickets to go during mid-august. my mother does not have any control over this situation as my dad must confirm the trip and give us some of his frequent flyer miles without which we could never afford to travel. i dont know what to do and i am very afraid that my grandfather will not live much longer.
