I have a friend and her brother hits her. She is around her 30's and her brother is older. Where can i find the law on that or any information. I live in the state of Pennsylvania
it is a crime ), battery, or some other charge, ( different states in the US) but her brother hitting her is no differnet than you hitting her, it is illegal, and she just needs to report him to the poiice.
Fr_Chuck is right. She must go to the police, file a report, and can also file for a PFA which requires her brother to keep a certain distance from her at all times or go to jail for contempt. If you witness this abuse, you can also make a report to the police. There won't be much that gets done if she isn't willing to admit what her brother has done, but maybe if you call the police she will give in and tell the truth.
There is never a need for violence , it is wrong and your friend needs to seek help.
Does she discuss this with you and if so you need to very gently support her into the direction of help.Remember that she is probably scared of any repercussions and needs all the support she can get.
