Answer: x squared + 3x + 2

Try the F.O.I.L. method:

F stands for the first 2 terms (in each parentheses) which is x times x= x squared
O stands for the outer 2 terms which is x times 1= x
I stands for the inner 2 terms which is 2 times x= 2x
L stands for the last 2 terms which is 2 times 1=2

Combine like terms and you get x squared + 3x + 2
