family or school

I can't decide what to do, my church is having a family fun day this Sat. but I have class. My husband & I had been talking of having my son's 9th birthday at the place the fun day will be held but found it was way to expensive just the day before we found out about the fun day so it was like a miracle that we would get to take our kids there anyway. Just a few days before all that I was finally able to get into a class that I had been trying to get into for weeks. The first day of the class is on the same day as the fun day. So now I am torn on which to do. One one hand it will be the first day & not a lot usually goes on & I have a friend in the class who could get the syllabus for me so I wouldn't have to miss time with my family which is short enough as is. On the other hand I don't want to give my kids the idea that school is not important but then I don't want them to think that school is more important to me than they are. I don't know what to do??????

Really when you think about it. Are you there for your children everyday? Are you important part of their life in everyday life. This is one day that you might not be with them. Do you think they will understand? So one day, but everyday is an celebration of family. One day out of that. I would ask them what they think and I would think they understand.
