replacing a laptop screen - size and connection etc

Hi, I have an Advent 7082 laptop which I got last Christmas; recently I’ve had a screen problem with, however it has run out of guarantee! Typical!

Basically the screen has picture has gone, however is you bend the top in a certain position it works perfectly as if there were nothing wrong (however this means to use the laptop you need two pairs of hands - which I obviously haven’t got!) when you let go of the screen the picture just fades out/freezes.

I took it to be looked at and he said I needed a new screen. I wondered if anyone else has experienced a similar problem?

Also some advice on buying a new screen: the screen size is 15.4" - do I just need to buy a screen the right size or does it have to be a specific model? Also some screens have 30 pin connectors etc?? How to a find out what screen connection my laptop has? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

I have a Toshiba laptop that the screen got crack, Went to E-bay and bought a new one for over half price. Install is about 6 little screws and it open everything up. You might have a bad connection to the screen. I would remove the border around the screen to where you have access to the connection and unplug it and reconnect to see if that help. If not start your search. lol
