    How to open an MPP file? What software is required to open the MPP file. Is that software available freely for downloading?

    .mpp is a MS Project file. So either purchase MS Project, or buy LiveProject for under $100. There are also free options~ ProjectViewerCentral, Seavus, Steelray, KSol. Good Luck!
