    Antique Electric Singer Sewing Machine
I bought and old Singer sewing machine at an auction. It is electric and is in the original wooden case, it works great but I am having trouble finding any information on it. I have found similar ones w/a lot more fancy work on them but not this model, the Serial Number is AH782181. Does anyone have any information on this machine? Year it was manufactured... etc.

    Thanks.

You could always Google 'singer' and I am sure the information would be pretty well comprehensive as to year and date, etc.

I have looked on the internet for old singer sewing machines without much luck
Mostly seems to be collectors displaying their sewing machines and VERY little information.

Thanks for your answers but I did find what I was looking for. I found www.singerco.com/serial_2letter and there was my info... manufactured in September of 1947...

So thanks again. I hope someone else finds this useful.

Just for clarification and ease of reference for others, I did find the information that you did on the site that you referenced in your post #4 above in a pdf file. But, I found the date to be September of 1948 rather than 1947. It can get confusing and easy to make mistakes when looking at so many numbers that are the same.

Also, for further information here, in case others might want to know, the name of the factory was Elizabethport in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Here are the serial number and date ranges for your machine from the pdf file.

    AH 763121 798120 15 35000 Sept 20 1948
    AH 798121 798620 17 500 Sept 20 1948

Here is the link to get to the pdf files for the dating of Singer Sewing Machines that have a two-letter prefix on the serial numbers.
