Should I teach?

Hi, I was wondering if you could advise me concerning my current education situation. I'm a sophmore tunring into a junior at Rowan University and I was pursuing a major in English and certification to be a teacher. I wnated to be a highschool or middle school English/Literature teacher, but I wasn't accepted into the program and then they changed all the education credits and classes around, menaing that some classes weigh more than others now and they ahve different names and since I wasn't accepted into the program, I now am just pursuing a degree in pure English and a minor in art. My advisor told me I could re-apply for the teaching program in January/February and see if I got accepted and after I graduated with my english degree, come back and finsh up my education credits or go to Wilmington college in Delaware and take my master's in teaching in about two years. Do you ahve any advice on what would be the best route for me to take? I also now am wondering whether it's really worth it to pursue teaching and what else do you think I could do with a degree in english and a minor in art? Thanks a lot

teaching

Or perhaps just change colleges all together and go to one where you can get your teaching certificate. In many colleges it is just a major and you merely take those required classes and other non required classes.
( plus your internship latter in your education process.

Or if you stay there can you not merley take every class that is required minus the certificate classes. While I have not checked on it lately, many schools offer grad to teaching summer classes because of the lack of teachers.

But if I really wanted to do something and one school was not letting me, I would find the school that would.

Major

Hi,
I am 63; have two Bachelors Degrees, and a Masters in Public School Supervison and Administration. Taught high school math for 13 yrs, in my much younger years. Got out of teaching, got my second Bachelors at 40 yrs old! Then, was in engineering for 22 yrs.
I'm telling you all this cause it's never too late in life to change what you want to do!
I am sure there are some other things you can do with an English major and Art, but just not sure right now. Usually, teaching is what these are for.
I really can't tell you what to do, and that decision is up to you. Since you were turned down for the "teachers' program", it does change things. If you were turned down for it now, are you sure you can get a teaching job with a Masters?
I am sure you have talked many times with the counselors, and they can give you more Professional advice than I can. But, one suggestion is to finsh your Bachelors Degree in English, then start applying for jobs, with a resume, maybe for an Administrator Assistant job, or other. Work for awhile in the "real world", then decide later if you really want to continue with education courses. Happy New Year!
