Why are paramedics important to society?

If your able to answer that, and also why the knowledge of chemical reactions is essential to a paramedic, would be great.

Thanks.

I will tell you that in case of an emergency, I would prefer a paramedic to truck driver. A paramedic is specially trained to respond to emergencies, beyond the skills of the EMT, and I rest assured that the paramedic's skills are constantly updated and reviewed as well as certification and the renewals on a regular basis. Emergency medicine has made great leaps in quality of care and knowledge in the past 30 years. Who do you entrust with your life if you were in an accident?

Why is the knowledge of chemical reactions important to their work? So they can identify possible hazards or problems and take precautions. Also when caring for a patient, to know, as best they can, the drug history and food and drink intake. Granted, sometimes that is not possible, if the person is unconscious and there is no one there to assist with the information.

Paramedics are heroes in my book.
