Employment application/legal to change terms on a consent?

If an employment application requires a consent be signed. for example prospective employee is required to sign a consent for a credit check. Is it legal to change the wording/terms of the consent: example prohibit the prospective employer from using a dubious credit reporting agency (like Group One in DFW area), sign the altered consent and submit to the employer? Is the consent enforceable in the amended version?
