Onkyo receiver setup, no sound

recently purchased Onkyo Tx SR 605 it to my older Digital Phase AP! speakers (8 ohms per manufacturer) I am getting NO sound whatsoever out of speakers , tried twice with Onkyo customer service but ultimately they reported but speakers/wires are defective. If those were defective wouldn't I at least be getting static if I am tuned to an FM station?? Any help greatly appreciated

If you aren't getting hiss at all, especially at high volume, then there is no power going to the speakers. Is there an A/B function on the receiver?
