how many grams sugar should a healthy adult have a day?

Hi Sandra,
Currently there is no established RDA, but the generally accepted recommendation is 40 grams.

Th average adult with a 2,000 a day diet should have no more then 32 grams of sugar per day (that's 8 tsp). Look at the grams of total carbs instead of sugar on nutritional labels this includes all sugars. Biggest sugar no no's non-diet sodas, jam, jelly and syrup.
