swimmer's ear or ?

A couple of days ago i woke with a painful right ear. Things started getting worse with the same ear and an emergency doctor told me it's swimmer's ear. The irony is: i don't swim but i guess water is just a medium and it could be that night's shower. Anyways, I have been taking ear drops and anti-biotics for a couple of days now but things are still getting worse now.

Now, my ear is bleeding a little bit and it hurts like...!

And i heard the allergy could be because of bacteria or fungi? Does it matter which? Is there a way to find out?

Any ideas what this could be? or what it's leading to? cure?
It will take me a while to get hold of the doctor again but in the meantime i am hoping that someone will shed some light here. through my ear!

Thanks for your time.

You should immediately seek a second opinion.

If your ear is bleeding this can be a sign of a punctured eardrum, which by the way, will heal itself.

Whatever you do, do not stop taking the meds prescribed. YOu must take as prescirbed so that you do not develop a resistance to that antibiotic in the future.

Please, though, go back to doc ASAP

Hi,
An ER doctor is NOT a ENT (Ear-Nose-Throat) specialist.
PLEASE see an ENT as soon as possible.
I now wear 2 hearing aids, am 64 yrs old, and also have tubes in both eardrums, to stop infections. These infections, over the last many years, have caused me to have some hearing loss.
A bleeding ear is NOT to be taken lightly; PLEASE see an ENT now.
Best of luck.

oh hey.
thanks guys for the comments and suggestions. I will see the doctor today again. But this problem came to me out of the blue and i feel bad that this could lead to serious consequences. I hope all goes well. I will keep things updated here so that we all know about this kind of issues.

Thanks again.
