Deltoid IM injection

Pt. Receiving multiple IM injections over a 3 day period... Rotating sites, can you give 2mls in the deltoid? Some literature says 1ml, some says max of 2mls depending on size of muscle and person, I've even found literature that says up to 3ml..... Is it ok to give 2mls in the deltoid?

Why are you second guessing the Physician who knows your medical history?

Not second guessing doctor at all... One nurse says you can't give 2mls in deltoid, another says it's ok to give 2ml... Just need correct answer for future reference in giving an injection in deltoid
