    64 pound 2 yr old
I have a 64 pound 2 year old. He is not obese by any means. He is in the 100th percentile for height and weight, he always have been every since his 2 month check up. He is more muscle and very solid. His dad is 6 4 280 so I just always figured he would be a big guy like his father. My question is this, on a daily basis, he drinks 3/4 of a gallon of vitamin D milk. I buy a gallon of milk every day. Should I stop doing this, is this not healthy?

I hope you'll get your doctor's opinion, too... but I think you should definitely go to 2%... as a start. And going to skim would be even better... but he no doubt won't go for that right now. Maybe take him down in steps.

3/4 gallon of whole milk is alot of milkfat.

    Calories
    Hi,
3/4 gallon of Vitamin D milk is approx. 1,800 calories!
The average number of calories per day (24 hrs) for maintaining body weight, not gaining or losing, is 2,000 calories.
This 2 year old is on his way to being overweight, and with all that milk, contains a LOT of miligrams cholesterol, and may have problems with high cholesterol later on.
I am not a Professional by any means.
As another suggested, I would check with your Pediatrician for some professional advice on what to do, and what for him to be eating and drinking.
I am not saying that your son is "overweight", but the primary health problem in the US, in the past few years, has become overweight people.
I do wish you the very best, and personally, I would suggest giving him at least 2% milk, but that should be up to the Pediatrician.

That is a crazy amt of milk.

My son is in the 100th percentile for height, and 85th for weight at 2, and your son is nearly double the weight of mine. Your son is well and above the top end of the scale (34 lbs at 2 is 95th):

    http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhanes/...l/cj41l017.pdf

The only reason my son was still on whole or vit D milk at 2 was he had started the scale for height, but was way low for weight. Once he climbed above 75%, the pediatrician said to cut back to 2%.

    1) do you have a pediatrician (please say yes) and what has he/she said??

    2) one issue with drinking so much milk is whether your child is getting the proper nutrition... if the milk is mostly what he's getting, that's an issue.

    3) my son is showing the same growth pattern as his grandfather did, 6ft 4in. He was 6ft tall in 6th grade. Some kids grow fast. But I'd be talking to professionals about this to make sure there isn't a thyroid or metabolic issue.

How tall is your son at age 2?
