unable to share files in winxp & win2000

Hye !

I have two pc one is having windows XP pro and other one is having Win2k. XP pc is having sify broadband which is shared by default windows sharing ( ip - 192.168.0.1 ) to win 2k machine. And its working fine.

Now the problem is when I try to access xp pc from win2k it is showing various error message not altogether but intermitently. Some of them are listed below.

1. \\ip is not accessible.you might not have permission to use this network resource.contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The remote procedure call failed.

2. \\ip is not accessible.you might not have permission to use this network resource.contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Network path not found.

3. \\ip is not accessible.you might not have permission to use this network resource.contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The specified network name is no longer available.

Sometimes I was able to access the pc but momentrily when I refresh the window it gave me one of the errors mentioned above.

And when I tried to copy some files between these pc I got another message :

" cannot copy the file: cannot read from the source file or disk."

Now what I have tried so far.

1. Enable the guest account. Give the access rights to everyone in security settings.
2. Keep the same password for Guest and Administrator.
3. Create the same account on both pcs.
4 Change the ip address from 192.168.0.1 to other in class C and class A
5 Restart the Network Services like Network connections, Network DDE, Network DDE DSDM, Computer browser , server, net logon .

6. I have tried following commands with windows resource kit which I have found over the net and worked for me many times.

net user guest /active:yes
ntrights +r SeNetworkLogonRight -u Guest
ntrights -r SeDenyNetworkLogonRight -u Guest

But all in vein. Nothing worked

One more thing I want to highligt here that everything is working fine in safe mode with networking.

Any budy......Help

i am also facing similar problem. everything was working fine on my laptop before i installed Sify broadband client. After that I can access any network resource when I come back to office LAN.

tried some resolution from MS like restoring MUP.sys file. It solves for that moment and then again the same issue. I have a feeling that either this Sify client has something to do or there is any virus. Did you get a solution?
