Specify a network connection for internet access

Asked Jun 3, 2008, 07:36 PM — 4 Answers
I have 2 network adapters installed on my computer, and each is plugged into a separate network. I need to use internet access from one network and use file sharing from the another, the both networks have internet access but I don't want to access internet through the adapter which I'm tending to use the file sharing (called "LAN" adapter). The problem is if I disable the internet protocol (ip/tcp) on the "LAN" adapter, the file and printer sharing service on that adapter will also be disabled (I'm using windows XP). How can I dislable the internet access but remain file sharing on the "LAN" adapter?

You can try to do it in Network Setting.

go to START and CONTROL PANEL
At the CONTROL PANEL , you can see the NETWORK CONNECTION icon.
Double Click that icon , you will see all of your network devices.

Ok , Right Click on the one of your network connection and choose Properties

You will see Local Area Network Properties windows.

Click the Advance Tab.

Click the Windows Firewall Setting

Now you can see the Windows Firewall Windows

At the Advance , click the Setting of Network and you can click which service you only want to use for this network .

I hope it will help you.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Aung

I'm trying, But it looks like windows firewall only monitor the accesses from the internet to my computer, as by default, all accesses are disabled so I can't disable anything more

Done, I've found the solution, just remove the default gateway address on the "LAN" connection!
