Lost wired connection after power down.

I have a no internet connection from my desktop to Linksys router. Port does not light up on router. Wireless connections are fine. The pc has a LOM (lan on motherboard). In device manager the network adapter shows code 10. When pc is powered down for a while, I notice that port 1 on router is lit. Upon boot up light goes out. All ports from router work fine. Ive wired the notebooks up from all 4 ports and connection to internet is made. The router configuration is same as before. Sometimes local connection does not even show in network connections as an icon. Any help or direction would be much appreciated.

Did you try repairing the connection?

yes Also disabled, enabled, uninstalled and reinstalled. Can not ping router from main (wired pc). I find it strange that connection just went bad when a/c was removed from my Belkin surge protector.

Well, if the light come on when it is powered down, it seems to me that it could be a driver issue. When it's powered down, it's just using the power through the motherboard, and doing it's own thing (probably waiting for a Wake-On-Lan packet), but then when you boot back up, windows trys to use it's driver to talk to it, and it shuts down because they are confusing each other.

Thats what I *think* might be happening.

Try to download some new drivers from the manufacturer, and see if it helps.

goto the cmd prompt. type "ipconfig /renew". It might fix it.

Tried the ipconfig/renew; state of adapter was unavailable for that cmd. Also the repair function was not available as the icon for my connection was not there. Drivers are updated from my motherboard site. Only thing left to try is a cmos reset which was recommended by Soyo. Any other input will be appreciated. I will try in a day or 2 as the unplugging of power was needed in order to paint my rooms. Otherwise I would not have this problem. Thanks again to all who responded.

Did you forget the space "ipconfig<space>/renew"
<space> is, of course, the space bar.

If there is no port light on the router then the router is already defective. If it is still under warranty then I would suggest that you contact Linksys and ask for replacement.

Actually, since the device is showing Code 10 in device manager (Which is that the device cannot start, I believe), there probably isn't any power going to the NIC in the computer. No power means no internal connection, and since there is no power, the light on the router isn't going to come on. This is because there is no electrical connection between the two ends of the cable (Pins 1 and 3 have the same charge, they complete a circuit with pins 2 and 6, which have oppisite polaritys).
