Linksys router configuration

Hi,
I recently bought a Linksys wireless router. I have one desktop and laptop I am able to access the Internet when I hardwired my laptop / desktop to Modem. (which is what is there now). . I want to connect my laptop in "wireless" mode to the router and access internet. I tried accessing wireless but it didn't work out. So, I hardwired router to laptop and tried to access "192.168.1.1" router configuration page. It is showing page not found. I checked ipconfig/all from command prompt and it shows ip address as : 169.254.164.33 and subnet mask as 255.255.0.0.
It shows default gateway as blank. I am not at all able to access the web page of linksys router. I did a reset (using the switch) of the router also. But no luck.

To cross verify whether it is a problem in my laptop i connected my modem (hardwired) to laptop , in which case I was able to access the Internet.
Please help me.

Thanks
Karthik

You need do reset til. ipconfig/all shows ip address as 192.168.1.1(Default)and pings.
Linksys.com then support, Q&A's, drivers, Lots of help also, and manuals.

if the problem is not resolved try 3 things
1- check if ur system has got wirles modem, either buildin or external
2- if u r using ntl connect ur ethernet cable from modem to ur router and then another same cable from router to laptop and try it might work
3- connect ur system with internet as usel and then try 168. in internet explorer if u get the access then try to change the security settings it might help
