I checked all of the cables and even interchanged them-the problem continued
I put the cable connecting the computer to the router directly into the broad modem & the internet connection worked therefore the problem is with the router or my computers instructions to it.
I then disconnected the router,un-installed the router software and started over.
The router now workes & I don't know why. I just have to wait till it stops working so I can try to find out what is wrong.
Thanks for all of the help but my main problem is that computer people talk in acronyms which causes me to look at a lot of books or get on line to figure out what you are saying
