connecting two pc via ethernet

hi i am a game freek. i want to connect my two pcs for playing multiplayer games via ethernet. help.

what os is running on the machines? also do you have a router?

You can connect them with a standard Ethernet cable through a switch or you can directly connect them together via a cross-over ethernet cable.
