cannot renew ip address

Help I'm new here.
Been having problems accessing internet.
Finally realised I have no ip address its all o's.
when i go run/cmd i get c:\Documents and Setting\Claudes>
ip adress 0.0.0.0
subnet mask 0.0.0.0
default gateway shows nothing

when i type ipcofig/release says local area connection 1 has already been released

then type ipconfig/renew
_ appears and nothing happens

PLEASE HELP

routers and modems working and turned on?

Plugs/cables attached securely?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never thought this would be problem but I switched cord port on Belkin Router and rebooted and it worked.
