Sony ACID program (how do you not record things playing in desktop?)

I have a question on sony ACID, how do configure the program so that it records only what the microphone or any other external devices hooked up are playing. For example, i hit the record button while i have windows media player playing music and it records what is going through the microphone and what is being played on my desktop. How do you make it so it doesn't record any sounds or music playing on your desktop?
