retriving music and videos to ipod from ithuens library

I have an apple ipod - nano technology - 60 GB. By 26 January I had filled my iPod with videos and music. On 27 Jan. 2007 my servant inadvertantly pressed a key becasue of which all the videos went out of the ipod. Buth iTunes library displayed the list of all the videos and its log also displayed 45GB as video storage. Is there any way to retrive my videos from the iTuens library. I may also please be advised on the methods of safeguarding the videos and music against any mishandling or miskeying.
