I downloaded a thumbnail image, is it possible to enlarge it without blurring the image? It is in GIF format.

Basically thumbnails discard a lot of the information required (colours, pixels) once that is lost...tough.

It depends on the quality of the stored image. A GIF is made up of pixels. You can't increase the number of pixels so as you enlarge the pixels get larger. Some programs will try to analyse the picture and fill in pixels, but that doesn't always work well.

Best advice is try it, if it doesn't then you will know.

You might consider going back to where you got the thumbnail and asking for a full size.

No, you can't improve the quality of a thumbnail image.
What you can do is this:
When you downloaded the image, which of these did you do?
First way: Right click on the thumbnail image, then left click on "Save Picture As", or something like that, then you download it to say C:/Downloads.
Right click on the image, then Left click on Properties, and you can see the size; such as 5,282 bytes, which is only 5 K size.
Second way: Left double click on the image, then it should open up into a bigger screen, showing a larger image. Then, Right click on that image, and Left click on "Save As". When you save that image, it will be much larger, like 52 K.
The best way is the Second way, if it will let you open it to a larger image.

If you cannot save a pic for whatever reason, you can simply press the Print Screen button on your keyboard, then open Microsoft Paint and paste it there and edit out the other parts. This would not apply to thumbnails, but as Fredg suggested above, to larger pics that you cannot save for some reason.

i.e. enhancing enlarged thumbnails?
