I just got a new burner and my computer won't read it. My computer only has two plugs. The power & the ide flat cable.. my computer keeps saying "disc boot faliure, insert computer disc". I put in the software that came with it but the it won't read it. Did do something wrong & should I take it somewhere where they can install it?

Sounds like you did something wrong. Did you follow the instructions that came with the drive? Did you put it on the same channel as your hard drive? Did you set the jumpers correctly?

Swap the burner to a different ide cable... mine doesn't even boot when I have both burners hooked up on the same cable... when I separate them I'm good to go
