Codec problems or something else?

I downloaded a series of programs and they will start playing for 5 seconds to 3 minutes then just stop and give me an error message explaining that Windows media player cannot play.

I clicked the button that says web help and the help is not really help at all as it states:

"You've encountered error message C00D11D4 while using Windows Media Player. Additional information is not currently available for this error."

I tried to play them in realplayer but for some reason I get the same message from WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER! Not an error from realplayer but from windows media player. I thought that strange.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
