| | | Can't Open PDF File in New Window from Captivate I have a Captivate (cp) file where I have a button that should open a new window and open a pdf file.
It doesn't work. It just opens my browser.
I tried using java script, and it would open a new window, but I can't get the pdf file to show.
Any suggestions?? | | | | | | |

| sorry about your frustration. have you not downloaded a free acrobat reader 7 yet? I've not heard of a cp file and can't help you there, but I think that if you had the free reader, it would open any PDF file right in your browser when you click it, and letting you save it, therefore less hassle. If this is not an option for you, just wait, there will be more help coming. Good Luck. |

| I've just check out Captivate on the site, and from the 'presentation' of the features, it handles all kinds of presentations thru maromedia. I did learn that you can convert documents into word, but not PDF. Also if I understood it correctly, you have to have the document present, and then 'record' it to make it into a captivate file. 'cp' file is a cativate movie that you create. Other than that I have no clue as what to advise, sorry. But is sounded to me that you have to 'capture' and 'record' files, and works along with Macromedia FlashMX, not just open them and read them. If you don't need this application and did not pay for the full version, then I would suggest an alternative if it gives you such a headache. As I said before though, just hold on, others will join the forum soon and maybe they know more about this app. There is a lot of software out there and if you tell me exactly what you need to work with , I might be able to find an alternative, maybe even free, software package for you. |

Check to make sure that you have a copy of the Acrobat Reader installed and that the PDF extension is associated with the Reader. |

| Are you sure the format is PDF Hi,
Captivate allows one to save the file as a .cp file or publish the file as .swf (Flash format).
Are you sure the file is a PDF. If is is, then you should be able to open it with Acrobat and external to the Captivate program.

Any suggestions?? | Make it easier on yourself and download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader here, and open all PDFs with it from now on. http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Let cativate do what it is designed to do, and let adobe to what it is made for. simple as that.... |
