burning audio CDs

I burned some songs onto a CD-RW disc and it plays on my computer but not in my car cd player. What did I do wrong?

Standard CD players cannot play CD's of which the "session" is not closed.
Close the session of your CD and it may work.
Note that if the CD player is very old, it may have trouble to read CD-R's, and not be able at all to read CD-RW's.
Try a CD-R instead (and do not forget to "close" the session when burning the CD).
("closing" the session means that you cannot add files to the CD later on anymore).

All cd players are different and do not read all cd's. This is common in older players and or burners.

The question was about a CAR-CD player.

I realize that...but the answer still applies. I was just making a more generalized statement that spoke of CD's and players as a whole.
