title needed for a 80s childrens cartoon/movie with monkeys in it

When I was little I had this tape that I watched all the time (late 80s). All I remember is that there were a bunch of monkeys who lived in the woods in some sort of circus(?) trailer or something. I seem to remember something about a woman as well. The only plot I remember is them getting into trouble, and singing something that sounded like "chimmy amma go go" over and over.

This was one of my favorite tapes growing up, but it was thrown away. Does anyone have an idea as to what the title might be?

was the tape an original or recorded from the t.v.. was it made for tv, or actually a movie, or cartoon series. did u watch this in united states or an other country? this might help the search better...
