Trying to find the name of a movie
I am trying to find the name of a movie that scared the life out of myself and my brother and sister about 20 years ago. All I remember is that its about a monster that rips the heart out of its victims and I think it was either at the beginning or the end of the movie where the main characters partner gets taken by the monster in a sewer. I need to find the name of this movie because it has stuck with me all these years.

I don't remember a whole lot about it, I do remember that they were going around to "try out" different parents. I remember one of the parents they went to live with were like overly obsessed with being 100% dust free, they had major mysophobia(afraid of germs) problems. Anyone have any clue?
